Club Status
Your club’s status shows whether it is approved to operate as a LUSU club and access LUSU club services. Clubs must complete the registration or renewal process and continue meeting LUSU’s requirements to remain active.
Club status and funding eligibility are not the same thing. A club can be active but still need additional members to qualify for club funding.
Club Status at a Glance
Active Status
Active clubs are recognized by LUSU and may operate, organize approved activities, and access the club services for which they are eligible.
To remain active, clubs must:
- Register or renew annually through Clubs Den.
- Keep their membership roster and officer information current.
- Submit all club events and activities through Clubs Den.
- Follow LUSU’s event planning and risk management requirements.
- Complete all financial activity through LUSU Clubs.
- Follow promotion, poster, and advertising requirements.
- Comply with the LUSU Clubs Code of Conduct and applicable LUSU, Lakehead University, and legal requirements.
Frozen Status
Frozen status is a temporary restriction placed on a club when requirements have not been completed or a serious concern needs to be resolved.
While frozen, a club may be removed from the public Clubs Den listing, have limited access to officer tools, and lose access to some or all club privileges. Clubs should work with LUSU to address the issue as soon as possible.
Appeals
Clubs will be notified if they are facing frozen status or dissolvement. The club may have an opportunity to correct the issue or appeal the decision through the appropriate LUSU process.
Club Dissolvement
Dissolvement is the permanent closure of a club. A club may dissolve voluntarily, or it may be dissolved after an extended period of inactivity or unresolved non-compliance.
Dissolvement includes closing the club’s Clubs Den listing and addressing any remaining funds, equipment, or other assets.
